Flexible Manufacturing System

Description

DEPCO’s Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) workcell is completely integrated and designed to be stand-alone. The robot tends the CNC machine and performs other part manipulation and/or assembly tasks. The robot loads and unloads parts to and from the conveyor. The robot is a rugged robotic system that offers advanced robotic path control, speed, and accuracy. A real-time, multi-tasking controller that can simultaneously monitor and control up to 8 inputs and 8 outputs control the vertically articulated robot arm. The CNC machining center is a computer controlled milling machine. Similar to larger industrial machines, the CNC machine uses EIA, ISO, and Fanuc-compatible G&M code programs to cut parts in a variety of materials. The machine's software supports a number of programming modes, including linear, circular, and helical interpolation, multiple tool programming, and canned cycles. This turnkey FMS workcell gives students training and skills in CAD/CAM, CNC and robotic programming and control, and automated manufacturing systems.
