A picture is worth a thousand words—but a picture that has been digitized, adjusted, and enhanced is worth even more. In this detailed curriculum, students use the same software as professionals to scan, digitize, and manipulate photos. They start with a basic introduction to general photo manipulation tools and commands, such as working with control palettes, changing photo resolutions, and using a variety of selection tools. After this introduction, they complete complex actions such as isolating image elements, changing an image to grayscale, adjusting color levels, and using a number of special effects filters. Finally, after practicing scanning photographs and making layouts, students design and transfer a digitally manipulated image onto a mouse pad that they can take home and use proudly.
